Rwanda has since yesterday received six US republican congressmen in a two day visit to the country.
The delegation headed by Senator Jim. Inhofe, a republican from Oklahoma is visiting Rwanda in the context of strengthening ties between the two countries.
Accompanied by Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Louise Mushikiwabo, the senators this morning met the Head of State, President Paul Kagame at Village Urugwiro.
The visit comes at time as last week, US accused Rwanda that is involved in “destabilizing activities” aimed at exacerbating the turmoil in neighbouring Burundi, the accusations Rwanda denied.
After the report, Rwanda government released a statement according to which the country will relocate over 75,000 Burundian refugees to other countries which are yet to be named.
United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) expressed worries about the decision.
US congressmen arrived to Kigali from Harare, Zimbabwe via a military aircraft.
After Kigali, they will head to Ethiopia.
