The association ‘Turwanye ubukene’ that burns bricks and makes tiles in Masagara cell in Musange sector is happy to have been allowed to operate again after one year not working.

This association had been stopped in its operation by the sector authorities after finding out that it was destroying the environment.

Niyoneze Stephen the vice chairperson of this association said that they made a decision never to burn bricks and tiles by cutting trees, they will instead use trees from houses and dry grasses. They cannot stop this work though since it made them provide for their families.

The residents in this sector say that they were saddened by this association not working since it helped them get roofing materials very easily.

Nsabimana Faustin a resident said, “One iron sheet is bought at 6000frw and you make a long journey to get them yet one tile is bought at 35frw and they are very near. We are very happy that they have started working again.”

This association can make more than 3500 tiles in a day.
