 The Rwanda Women football team head coach Grace Nyinawumuntu has summoned 26 players to join camp in preparation for the 2016 Cecafa Women Championship which will be in Jinja, Uganda from September 11-20, 2016,

The National women team is scheduled to report to camp on Sunday evening ahead of their intensive drills due to start on Monday, September 5, 2016 at Stade de Kigali, Nyamirambo.

Unveiling the squad, Head Coach Grace Nyinawumuntu told Rwandaeye.com on Friday that they hope to hold intensive preparations and prepare adequately to be ready for next week’s regional tournament.

“We are getting together on Monday, train intensively for one week before embarking on our campaign of staging a good show in Cecafa Women Championship,”

“I have summoned a squad composed of players who have been competitive in the on-going National Women League. I believe we will have a strong final squad ready for the tournament,” added Nyinawumuntu.

Coach Nyinawumuntu who doubles as the head coach of six-time women football league side AS Kigali will be assisted by Musanze Fc coach Sosthene Habimana and goalkeeper’scoach Maniraguha Jean Claude.

The majority of players summoned are from AS Kigali, Kamonyi and Rambura women football clubs following their excellence in the national football league.

The tournament will kick-off on September 11 with Zanzibar hosting Burundi in the first game before hosts Uganda takes on Kenya in the second game of Group A.

Rwanda starts her campaign against Tanzania in Group B on September 12 before winding up with Ethiopia on September 14.

The Group A and B winner plus runners up will qualify in to the semi-finals due on September 18 while the final and third-place play-off are scheduled on September 20.
