Rwanda : Muted activity at the RSE

Share it

The numbers took a nose-dive yesterday at the Rwanda Stock Exchange, sinking to lows in both total turnover and share price of heavy-hitters such as BRALIRWA and Bank of Kigali (BK).

Total turnover for the day was a paltry Rwf 140,800 generated from the BK counter, which traded 800 shares at Rwf 130 in two deals while the counter of beverage-producer BRALIRWA traded just 100 shares in one deal at Rwf 368.

This comes in stark comparison to Wednesday’s session which saw the market register a total turnover of Rwf 13,351,000 from 47,200 BK shares and 19,500 BRALIRWA shares traded in 6 deals.

The muted activity means share prices largely remained unchanged or dropped down a notch, with Bank of Kigali share price remaining unchanged at Rwf 130, and BRALIRWA took a slight change in fortunes for the worse, closing Rwf 2 down from the previous share price, at Rwf 368. KCB shares last transacted at Rwf 140 while NMG shares last transacted at Rwf 1,200.

Today’s RSE activity shows promise however, as outstanding bids of 105,400 BK shares between Rwf 126 and Rfw 129 were registered at the close of business yesterday, with outstanding offers of 522,400 shares between Rwf 130 and Rfw 136. On the BRALIRWA front, there were outstanding bids of 56,700 shares between Rwf 360 and Rwf 365 and outstanding offers of 29,900 shares at Rwf 370.
