World-renowned hotel management group The Marriot is set to open doors here in Kigali as early as next year.

While the project is a brain-child of New Century Development LTD, the hotel will assume the name, and be under management of, the Marriot Group of Hotels.

Speaking to reporters, Marriott International Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Jeff Strachan said the hotel’s main attraction point will be offering excellent, five-star services as has come to be expected of Marriot Hotels, but this time at an affordable rate.

“We don’t want Rwandans to look at this as a place for foreigners only; that is why we are planning to have subsidized prices to attract the local middle class,” Strachan was quoted as saying.

Boasting an astonishing capacity of 250 rooms, the hotel – projected to cost in the region of US$60 million upon full completion, will be the biggest hotel in the country.

With over 3500 hotels worldwide, The Marriot is one of the oldest and celebrated hotel chains in the world.
