The colossal funds required for the completion of the latest Integrated Polytechnic Regional Centre (IPRC) have been secured.

The Workforce Development Authority (WDA) and China Geo-Engineering Corporation yesterday signed a financing agreement to pave way for the disbursement of funds to start the construction of the $10 million Integrated Polytechnic Regional Centre (IPRC) in Musanze District, Northern Province.

Speaking after the official signing of the pact, the Director General of the WDA, Jerome Gasana, who signed the pact in tandem with Mr. Zhu Xingui, the Deputy General Manager of the China Geo-Engineering Corporation, revealed that the construction of IPRC North will take little over a year and a half to be fully completed.

IPRC North joins a family of five projected IPRCs planned for all the provinces in the country.

Gasana revealed that the Kigali IPRC is already in operation; with the Eastern and Western IPRCs set to be completed in the next couple of months.

“Talks to secure the financing needed for an IPRC in the Southern Province are well underway, with a positive outcome anticipated later this year,” the WDA DG underscored while briefing members of the press.

IPRC equips students with skills in line with key government priority areas, such as agriculture and animal husbandry, renewable energy, construction, tourism and hospitality, ICT and multimedia, hair dressing and job creation skills among others.
