Producer Prices of Goods Rise in Rwanda

Producer prices of various goods and services in Rwanda increased by 11.59 percent in the first quarter of this year, National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda said.

Rwanda’s producer price index (PPI), which measures the average change over time in prices for goods at the factory gate, registered an increase of 11.59 percent compared to the index of the second year of 2016, and a decrease of 0.04 percent compared to the index of the previous quarter.

The report indicates that the index for local products for the second quarter 2017, registered an increase of 6.57 percent compared to the index of the second quarter of 2016, and a decrease of 0.26 percent compared to the index of the previous quarter (first quarter 2017).

The index for export for the second quarter 2017, registered an increase of 30.82 percent compared to the index of the second quarter of 2016, and an increase of 0.57 percent compared to the index of the previous quarter (first quarter 2017)
