Modern shopping mall to be built at ‘Kicukiro centre’

Kigali City authorities have given traders who own stalls in the market around a place better known as Kicukiro centre a deadline of February 15 to have relocated to other markets.

A local company called Kicukiro Investment Group has bought the space housing the Kicukiro market to put up a shopping mall, whose construction is scheduled to begin immediately after the Kigali One-Stop Centre approves the designs.

According to the Kigali Master Plan, all buildings located along that route – which heads on to Bugesera, where a new airport is to be built, must have at least four storeys.

This Kicukiro market accommodates about 200 traders, who are now set to relocate to Kabeza market, in another part of town.
