On the 9th.Dec.2011, the ministry of trade and industry visited the factory called ‘Sorana’ that makes oil used while making different fragrances of perfume that is in Musanze district.

Abizeye Jean Marie the manager of this factory says that they have markets in different countries but the problem is getting enough ingredients for making this oil. They don’t have enough area where they can grow plants which they use as ingredients while making this oil.

He said, “Getting where to expand our plants is a problem, if we can get enough place then we can work well.” The plants they use to make this oil are eucalyptus tree leaves and roses and others. Abizeye goes on to say that one liter of this oil is sold at around $9000.

Minister Kanimba asked Musanze district mayor to sensitize people neighboring this factory into planting those plants so that this factory can buy for them. He also told them that the National Agricultural Export Board (NAEB) will also help them in this. He said that this factory should be supported to act as it should since it holds a lot for the country.

Abizeye Jean Marie has experience since he used to do it while he was in Europe and he later came to do this in Rwanda. He officially opened this factory in 2010 but because of not having enough place to grow the needed plants, this factory has not been working for the last 6 months.
