Kagame birthday draws attention on social media

Countless people ascended to social media especially, Twitter and Facebook to wish a happy Birthday to President Paul Kagame of Rwanda as he clocked 56 on October 23.Many of the posts were well wishes and eulogies of who and what Kagame is for the people of Rwanda.

Many people focused on what Kagame has done since taking power after the liberation movement, stopping the genocide and stunningly transforming the country into a fast growing economy today.

Some of the selected posts from #HBD Kagame page include: “Happy birth day & live longer Mr. President. A life of 56 yrs lived entirely for others. An inspiration to leaders home & globally” Emmanuel Hategeka posted.

The Rwanda Patriotic Front Party, was not left out in the birthday slots, RPF Inkotanyi tweeted “Happy birth day to our Chairman @PaulKagame, may you live longer to see the seed of peace,hope,development you planted flourish”

Ariane Umurerwa, posted the most touching post saying-“There is no such a better feeling than waking up on this very special day! @PaulKagame May u live longer,longer and longer for us”

Many Rwandans today see Kagame as the hero, visionary leader and liberator of the Rwandan society, who has fought all battles both the genocide and ethnic divisions and currently fighting the economic empowerment and transformation of his country from a low income agricultural based to a knowledge based service economy.

Uwase Majolie said “Happy Birthday to the Hero that has brought us this far–a source of inspiration, a mentor, a hope for the future”
