Heavy Rains Destroy 206 Houses In Ngoma

Fifteen houses and several crop gardens have been devastated by a heavy downpour in several villages of Remera in Ngoma district. The heavy rains that lasted for at least seven hours started at around

Uwamariya Clemantine, the executive secretary of Ndekwe cell says most of the affected houses were constructed with mud and sticks and were weakened by strong winds and water that collected around the structures due to poor drainage.

Most of the people affected lost house hold property such as beddings, plates and mugs as well as personal documents.

Sector officials turned up to see the affected people and promised to help them reconstruct their homes. He advised them to dig trenches around their homes to divert water away from their houses.
