Tomorrow will be the curtain call to East Africa’s leading business acumen as the Africa business leaders awards set foot in Rwanda’s capital Kigali. The fifth edition of the awards that recognize the continent’s business leaders is expected to be a glamorous affair set for the Kigali Convention Centre auditorium.
Rwanda is represented in four of the categories namely: young business leader of the year with Jean de Dieu Kagabo, Founder and CEO of Soft Group, Innovator of the year with Patrick Buchana the founder of AC group, company of the year with Bank of Kigali and the business leader of the year with Juliet Umutoni, the Country Manager of DHL Express Rwanda.
Young entrepreneur Patrick Buchana who is up for the innovator of the year award for his smart card innovation that is currently being used to help ease of the transport industry is highly favoured to scoop the innovator of the year award.
His smart cards innovation has helped to simplify the ease of business operations for both the customer and bus operators as it helps the latter keep track of the clientele while reducing the dependency on cash liquidity for transport owners.
According to the organizers Forbes Africa and partner company CNBC the awards are meant to honour remarkable leadership and salute game changers of business on the African continent.
“Winners of the Awards exemplify the best in African leadership. They epitomize the core values of a successful leader, strength, innovation, ingenuity, knowledge and foresight – values that are imperative to carving out powerful business in a Pan-African and global economy,” said Sid Wahi a manager with CNBC International.
The Industrialist of the Year category, Philanthropist of the Year and the Lifetime achievement awards will be selected by the judging committee and announced on the night .
