Bilateral relations between Rwanda and Sweden will see another boost through exploring business and investment opportunities and attract more Swedish investors to the region
Swedish Finance minister, Anders Borg is currently in the country to explore these opportunities and will hold separate talks with several government officials, including his counter Amb. Claver Gatete and John Rwangombwa, the Governor of the National Bank of Rwanda, and representatives of the private sector.
Borg’s is on a regional tour to assess economic developments, market potentials, investments opportunities, and discuss mechanisms to attract more Swedish investors to the region so as boost economic development in both countries
During the meeting with Rwanda’s Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Claver Gatete, on February 26th, the two ministers discussed several areas including the economy, reforms, and private sector as well as investment opportunities.
Gatete pointed out that Rwanda among other African countries is a vital market target for Sweden, as the continent continues to showcase potential development over the previous years.” Minister Gatete said.
Minister Anders hailed Rwanda’s sustained economic development and impressive transformation and Rwanda among East African countries has witnessed growth with increased stability, trade and investment opportunities, despite Africa being known for underdevelopment, poverty and conflicts.
“We are assessing several areas of cooperation with Rwanda and looking for potential areas for future investments such as agriculture which can be explored,” Anders said.
