Rwanda parliament will this Wednesday October 19, 2016 elect a new lawmaker who will represent Rwanda at the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) in Arusha.
The full house parliament elections will be held at the Rwanda parliament building in Kimihurura at 9am according to a communique from the parliament press department.
The voting will be done by Chamber of deputies which is made up of 80 deputies. Of these, 53 are elected for five-year term by proportional representation and 24 are elected by provincial councils; of the remainder, two are appointed by the National Youth Council, and one by the Federation of the Associations of the Disabled.
This comes after Bazivamo resigned from the position after being elected as the new Deputy Secretary General to the East African Community (EAC) in charge of administration and finance this September 2016.
Bazivamo joined EALA after replacing his predecessor Dr. Damien Habumuremyi in 2011.
Bazivamo has served as the Prefet of the then Gitarama Prefecture. Later on, he became the first Executive Secretary of NEC until 2002, when he was appointed Local Government Minister.
Since then, he has held several ministerial posts in the Ministries of; Internal Security, Agriculture, Land, Environment, Forestry and Water and Mines. Since 2002, he has been the vice chairperson of the Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF).
