The media site CNBC Africa, a leading financial and business network, is set to open its doors in Kigali, making Rwanda the third African country the network has landed in.

The Kigali bureau is being set up in collaboration with Rwanda Television and the Rwanda Development Board, and opens for business later this month.

Speaking to reporters, Rwanda Development Board CEO Clare Akamanzi expressed her satisfaction with the move, saying Rwanda has a lot to share with the world.

“We are pleased to welcome CNBC Africa to Rwanda. We believe that establishing a bureau in Rwanda will provide its viewers with the opportunity to get first-hand information on Rwanda’s dynamic economy. Rwanda is one of the fastest growing economies in Africa and the third easiest place to do business, and therefore has a lot to share with the world”.

It is the channel’s third bureau this year following Zambia and Mozambique.

Vincent Karega, the High Commissioner of Rwanda to South Africa, commended the decision by CNBC leadership to open the Rwanda Bureau.

“We are a country rising from the ashes of the 1994 Genocide but steadily burying our dark past and creating a new era of Hope. CNBC Africa’s presence will help us tell our story of growth and transformation to the world and also bring to us the global economic dynamics. We will continue to work together to make this partnership a success”, Karega was quoted as saying.

CNBC also maintains a presence in South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Gabon, Namibia and Mozambique. Bureaus in Uganda, Tanzania and Botswana are projected for by the end of 2012.
