AU chooses Moussa Faki Mahamat as leader

The African Union has today chosen Chadian Moussa Faki Mahamat as the African Commision (AUC) Chairperson.

Mahamat will succeed South African politician Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.

Other candidates who contested include Amina Mohamed, Kenya’s cabinet, Equatorial Guinea Agapito Mba Moky, Botswana’s Dr Polenomi Venson-Moitoi and Senegal’s foreign affairs minister Aboulaye.

During the assembly, the president of Guinea Alpha Conde was elected as the president of the African Union.
