Aman Resorts and Regent Hotels eye Rwanda market

Adrian Zecha, the co-founder of two multimillion international hotel chains–Aman Resorts and Regent International Hotels has met with President Paul Kagame and expressed interest in investing in Rwanda.

Zecha said that the meeting was successful and once they get plans underway in January next year, the companies will construction of an Aman Resort in Rwanda within a range of 18 and 24 months.

He said that Rwanda was the rightful place of choice to invest in the sub-Saharan region, as the hotel management ponders a major entrance into the region.

“We have not invested in the sub-Saharan region and we think that Rwanda is the right place to start with since it has the potential and very conducive to doing business” he said.

Aman hotels, top Indonesian hotelier, comes in Rwanda at a time when big competitors like Marriott Hotels, Sheraton and Carlson Rezidor have also entered the market and the hotels business is booming in the country of a thousand hills.

Apparently, the local investors have also picked up pace and built many hotels in Kigali and across the countryside, as the tourism business continues to boom and demand for accommodation keeps increasing.

To this effect, Zecha said that Aman hotels will come on board with a different taste of the completion by offering beautifully designed rooms with quality services that will be in high demand by high-end consumers.

Zecha founded Regent International Hotels in 1972, establishing 12 hotels across Asia in 14 years. Aman Resorts chain counts more than 26 hotels spanning Asia, Europe, US and Morocco. Zecha is also chairman and director of General Hotel Management Ltd, a developer and manager of luxury hotels and resorts.
